Ashton Street, Margaret River

This bespoke home on a large town block was a perfect canvas for us to create something simplistic yet striking, which would instantly become a useable space.

The formal entrance was designed boldly; steppers lead you across the lawn to a cooling fern garden and you are welcomed with a tranquil fishpond. Structural plants and some with contrasting colour were chosen to stand out against the light façade.

In the back garden a generous lawn area was made, bordered with magnolias and various grasses. Lavender was planted to surround the espalier fruiting trees along the far fence line. Our plan was to create a central feature that could be seen from the superbly equipped deck where the family and their guests would spend ample time relaxing. This took the form of a large square bed with a classic birdbath.

Steppers mirroring those at the front guide you across the lawn to a gate that leads to a fruit orchard, a tasty welcome to the working area at the back of the block. Along the borders native bushes were integrated into the plans to create a natural buffer from the neighbours.
